Online Teaching Community of Practice
Thursday, July 2 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Get a crash course in prioritizing content, building assets, organizing and implementing your online course components. This working group will meet for 6 weeks starting June 11 through July 16 and, together with CITL staff, work to prepare your Fall 2020 course for the potential of online teaching and learning. Participants must commit to joining all weekly meetings, preparing materials, and completing required assignments. By the end of the six weeks faculty will have a framework for their online courses, and a clear roadmap of how to build an online learning experience supported by evidence-based practices.
Week One: Shifting your mindset to teaching online (6/11/2020)
Week Two: Prioritizing your course material (6/18/2020)
Week Three: Creating effective videos at home (6/25/2020)
Week Four: Building meaningful online assessments (7/2/2020)
Week Five: Organization and communication in your course (7/9/2020)
Week Six: Student engagement and group work (7/16/2020)
Virtual Meeting Times: Thursday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Meetings will be a combination of synchronous, small group, and independent work depending on the topic.
Space will be limited, so please only register if you can commit to all 6 meetings. The strength of this model is the peer instruction and cohort based support, this can only happen if people follow through on this commitment. Please do not register if you are not committed, you will potentially keep another faculty member from learning from this experience.
Did you know? Many of our workshops can be offered virtually, via Zoom! If you would like to join virtually, simply email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org after you register for an event, and we will send you the Zoom link.
