UMS IT Announcement – Zoom web conferencing available August 8
This service provides professional quality web conferencing across Mac, PC and mobile devices. As an addition, it is possible to dial into Zoom meetings from Polycom-equipped meeting rooms.
To get started there are a variety of materials available to you:
- UMS Zoom FAQS: https://gojira.its.maine.edu/confluence/display/ZOOM/Zoom+Implementation+FAQ
- UMS Zoom Training and Support Resources: https://gojira.its.maine.edu/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=63681987
- UMS Academy contains training videos for Zoom and can be found on the myCampus Launchpad and then searching for “Zoom Training”
- Zoom also has a wealth of documentation that is regularly updated: https://support.zoom.us
We will be offering live training sessions both from the vendor and internal UMS staff over the coming weeks:
More training sessions will be offered as needed and Zoom sponsors weekly sessions at https://zoom.us/livetraining
For those of you that will be recording sessions that you host, they will automatically be transferred over to the official University of Maine System video server, Kaltura, that can be found at video.maine.edu. If you plan on recording, do make sure you link your account to Kaltura. This only needs to be done once and is linked from your Zoom profile page at the bottom: maine.zoom.us/profile. If you have never used Kaltura, you may need to log into video.maine.edu before updating your Kaltura ID in Zoom.
If you wish to connect via Polycom, you will find that the Zoom meeting calendar invitations have instructions embedded.
As always, please call the UMS IT Help Desk at 581-2506 with any questions.
