CFRU to Host Webinar on Long-Term Forest Research in Maine

Join Dr. Ivan Fernandez (University of Maine) and CFRU Program Leader Dr. Brian Roth to learn more about long-term forest research in Maine, and the both expected and unexpected value these studies have brought to forestry and forest ecology.

This webinar will begin with a presentation by Dr. Ivan Fernandez (University of Maine), who will discuss the establishment of the Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM) and the scientific value, both expected and unexpected, that this long-term, nitrogen-addition study has contributed to forest ecology.

After this talk, CFRU Program Leader Dr. Brian Roth will discuss several long-term studies that have been conducted by the CFRU, starting with an overview of the Austin Pond study (initially established for herbicide trials, but unexpectedly contributing a lot of value to growth and yield modelling) and finishing with an overview of the CFRU’s new Maine Adaptive Silviculture Network (MASN).

There will be time reserved for questions following their presentations.

This webinar will be held on February 13th, 2019 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EST using Zoom web conferencing software. This webinar is open to the public.
