{"id":3238,"date":"2011-02-15T15:30:15","date_gmt":"2011-02-15T20:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/canam\/?p=3238"},"modified":"2023-10-24T11:30:33","modified_gmt":"2023-10-24T15:30:33","slug":"canadian-studies-course-development-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/canam\/2011\/02\/canadian-studies-course-development-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Studies Course Development Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian-American Center is pleased to announce a new competition for Canadian Studies Course Development Awards.\u00a0 As a U.S. Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center on Canada, the Canadian-American Center is committed to expanding the breadth and depth of teaching on Canada at the University of Maine.\u00a0 To fulfill that aim, the Center is providing funds for the development of courses that deal with Canada or Canadian-American relations.\u00a0 With funds from its Title VI grant, the Center will make several awards of $4,000 to faculty who develop a new course on Canada or Canadian-American relations or modify an existing course so that it includes at least 25 percent Canadian content.<\/p>\n<p>The awards will be made in two parts: two-thirds will be paid in May 2011 for faculty to use in developing the course in Summer 2011.\u00a0 The remaining one-third will be paid in Summer 2012 after the course has been taught or included in the course timetable for AY 2012-13.<\/p>\n<p>Awards will be made to full-time University of Maine faculty.\u00a0 Priority will be given to faculty who do not at present teach on Canada or Canadian-American relations.\u00a0 Applications from Canadian Studies faculty will also be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Applications must consist of a <a href=\"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/canam\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/149\/2011\/02\/Canadian-Studies-Course-Development-Award-Cover-Page.pdf\">cover sheet<\/a>,\u00a0 a one-page proposed course description or course modification, a plan of work, and a two-page CV.\u00a0 The course proposal must include the course title, content, and proposed date offered.\u00a0 To receive the final payment, faculty must submit the course syllabus.<\/p>\n<p>Deadline: 31 March 2011<\/p>\n<p>Submissions and any questions should be directed to Stephen J.
