{"id":10067,"date":"2022-01-19T12:00:44","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T17:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/canam\/?p=10067"},"modified":"2022-01-19T12:00:44","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T17:00:44","slug":"now-accepting-nominations-and-applications-for-the-canadian-american-center-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/canam\/2022\/01\/now-accepting-nominations-and-applications-for-the-canadian-american-center-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Now accepting nominations and applications for the Canadian-American Center Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h2>2021-2022 Foreign Language and Areas studies (FLAS), Canadian-American Center Fellowships, New England-Atlantic Provinces-Qu\u00e9bec Fellowships: Call for nominations<\/h2>\n<p>The Canadian-American Center at the University of Maine would like to announce that it is now accepting applications and nominations for Foreign Language and Areas studies (FLAS) Awards,<br \/>\nCanadian-American Center Fellowships, and New England-Atlantic Provinces-Qu\u00e9bec<br \/>\nFellowships.<\/p>\n<p>Academic Year FLAS support students who wish to improve proficiency in French or Maliseet,<br \/>\nMi\u2019kmaq\/Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Abenaki\/Penobscot.<\/p>\n<p>Full-time students who are US citizens or permanent residents, are eligible to apply. FLAS<br \/>\nFellowships are administered by the Canadian- American Center at UMaine, and are awarded on<br \/>\na merit basis through annual competitions.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient of a FLAS award receives tuition and a stipend.<\/p>\n<h4>Academic Year (AY) FLAS:<\/h4>\n<p>For Undergraduate students, the Awards offer a $5,000 stipend, cover tuition up to $10,000, and<br \/>\n50% of health insurance premiums if bought through UMaine.<\/p>\n<p>For Graduate students, the Awards offer a $18,000 stipend, cover tuition up to $18,000, and 50%<br \/>\nof health insurance premiums if bought through UMaine.<\/p>\n<p>Summer FLAS: up to $5,000 in tuition and $2500 living stipend.
