Several Canadian universities offer programs in French as a Second Language where students study and learn the French language for one or two semesters.  UMaine students at any level of French are eligible for the programs below.

The New England/Nova Scotia Student Exchange Program provides eligible UMaine college students the opportunity to spend one or two semesters studying and speaking French in the heart of Francophone Nova Scotia, at Université Sainte-Anne which offers a wide variety of French language learning environments.  While on exchange, students also have the opportunity to enjoy Nova Scotia’s awe-inspiring highlands, picturesque seacoast and a host of cultural attractions, both within and outside of a francophone environment.

The New England/Québec Student Exchange Program provides eligible UMaine  college students the opportunity to spend one or two semesters studying French at participating Québec campuses.  The Québec universities listed below, offer a wide variety of learning environments and an impressive array of course offerings. While on exchange, students also enjoy Québec’s vibrant cultural scene, natural beauty and extensive recreational opportunities, including world-class skiing, all in a francophone environment.
