This Assistant\u2019s primary responsibility is to<br \/>\noversee the checking-in of the climbing center users, and operate our software system<br \/>\n(Rectrac), providing equipment rentals and signing participants up for adventure trips.<br \/>\nThe Assistant will provide excellent customer service and always be attentive to<br \/>\nmembers\u2019 needs. The person holding this position is responsible for facilitating a fun,<br \/>\nsafe, and welcoming environment for participants and staff members at all times. Before<br \/>\nemployment begin,s they are required to complete certifications in Professional Rescuer<br \/>\nCPR, Standard First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and the use of an Automated<br \/>\nExternal Defibrillator.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The responsibilities of this position include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for staff and participants.<\/li>\n<li>Operate Rectrac<\/li>\n<li>Use Rectrac to swipe customers in, register participants for adventure trips, and<br \/>\ncomplete equipment rentals.<\/li>\n<li>Operate a cash register with accuracy.<\/li>\n<li>Build a strong knowledge base of all outdoor gear rental equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Perform excellent telephone customer service.<\/li>\n<li>Perform safety checks and awareness of EAP within the facility.<\/li>\n<li>Respond to injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency<br \/>\nprocedures.<\/li>\n<li>Perform general cleaning in the front desk and the climbing wall area.<\/li>\n<li>Attend staff meetings and trainings.<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As an Assistant for Maine Bound, you are expected to be a friendly, knowledgeable and vigilant representative of Campus Recreation. We expect all employees to have a positive attitude, show up for work on time, dress professionally, and perform all assigned duties in a professional manner. In addition, we expect all employees to treat everyone with respect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dependability, responsibility, and punctuality<\/li>\n<li>Professional attire and behavior<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of, and\/or interest in, recreation and fitness activities<\/li>\n<li>Enthusiasm, desire to learn, and desire to work as part of a team<\/li>\n<li>Ability to operate independently within departmental standards of conduct and professional expectations<\/li>\n<li>With proper training, awareness of risk management and safety concerns<\/li>\n<li>Awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity<\/li>\n<li>Ability to obtain certifications in Professional Rescuer CPR, Standard First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to student development and leadership<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work during academic year<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work during school breaks and holidays (preferred)<\/li>\n<li>Excellent customer service skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Reasonable level of physical fitness<\/li>\n<li>Ability to obtain a Top Rope Belay certification at Maine Bound Adventure Center<\/li>\n<li>Two references (professional or academic)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Priority may be given to individuals with the following certification(s):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AMGA Top Rope Site Manager<\/li>\n<li>AMGA Single Pitch Instructor<\/li>\n<li>ACA Canoe or Kayak Instructor<\/li>\n<li>ACA or Rescue 3 International Swiftwater Rescue Tech<\/li>\n<li>Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pay Level:<\/strong> $14.65\/hour<br \/>\n<strong>Work Study \/ Work Merit:<\/strong>\u00a0Optional<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time Commitment:<\/strong>\u00a0Approximately 2-6\u00a0hours per week.<br \/>\n<strong>Minimum Shift: <\/strong>2 hours<br \/>\n<strong>Shift Days\/Times: <\/strong>Weekdays, weeknights, and weekends<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities:<\/strong> No<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Furthering Your Prospects at Maine Bound\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every student begins working at the front desk at Maine Bound. \u00a0We also employ students in the areas of the indoor climbing wall, challenge course, and adventure trips.\u00a0 There are also opportunities to apply to be a student manager.
