SUMMARY:Hedgerow Workshop: Natural Pest Management Through Birds & Wildlife Habitat
DESCRIPTION:Learn how hedgerows can support healthy\, resilient landscapes by managing pests naturally while providing food\, shelter\, and connectivity for beneficial insects and birds. This interactive\, hands-on workshop is presented by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in partnership with Maine Audubon and will take place at Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden in Old Town. \nParticipants will gain practical experience in hedgerow design and establishment\, including plant and site selection\, installation techniques\, and long-term maintenance strategies. The workshop will combine field-based learning with applied discussion to support gardeners\, landowners and community members interested in reducing reliance on chemical pest control and creating functional habitat corridors. \nWhen: April 25\, 2026 \nTime: 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. \nLocation: Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden\, 914 Bennoch Road\, Old Town\, Maine \nCost: $15 \nPre-registration is required. SUMMARY:Farm-to-Table Summer Camp at Rogers Farm
DESCRIPTION:Youth ages 9-12 will be involved in all aspects of growing\, harvesting and preparing food and flowers from the demonstration garden at Rogers Farm. Our new farmers will sow seeds for our fall harvest\, gather cut flowers and veggies and learn how to create culinary delights with trained chefs.
