DESCRIPTION:Join UMaine Extension Urban Agriculture Professional\, Carrick Gambell\, for a hands-on workshop on growing big yields in small spaces. Gardening in a limited area doesn’t have to be restrictive\, learn how to make the most of every square foot. \nIn this interactive class\, you’ll explore techniques such as trellising\, dense planting\, and extending the growing season into the fall. DESCRIPTION:University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Hancock County is hosting the annual 4-H June Jamboree on June 13\, 2026\, at the Blue Hill Fairgrounds\, 223 Ellsworth Road. This event\, a beloved tradition for 4-H members and the wider community\, promises a weekend of hands-on learning\, outdoor adventures and family-friendly fun. \n4-H June Jamboree is designed to engage youth ages 5-18 in a variety of educational activities and workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to explore interests in agriculture\, animal science\, environmental stewardship\, and more. Highlights of the event include: STEM workshops with interactive projects; outdoor wellness activities such as archery\, camping and nature exploration; arts and crafts projects; and games and challenges designed to foster teamwork and leadership skills. \nMore than an educational experience\, the event is a celebration of the 4-H community\, providing a venue for youth to explore their passions\, develop new skills and make lifelong friends. SUMMARY:Signs of the Seasons Environmental Monitoring Program Training
DESCRIPTION:Maine Sea Grant will offer in-person volunteer training for the Signs of the Seasons program at the Ecology Center in the Cathance River Nature Preserve\, in Topsham\, Maine\, co-hosted by Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust. Participants will learn about the goals of the program\, learn how to make scientific observations of phenology (the study of cyclic and seasonal changes of plants and animals)\, practice making phenology observations outdoors at the preserve\, and leave with the tools and knowledge needed to set up their own site to observe and record changes in phenology in their own yard or community. \nRegistration is required for this free educational program\, and will be limited to the first 8 registrants\, due to the parking capacity at the site (carpools will allow for additional registrants). \nPlease register using this form.
