SUMMARY:Chemistry of Life: The Invisible Inside
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes it’s the smallest things that matter the most. Join us on a journey into a seemingly invisible world – the world of molecules and nanoparticles. What does the cell structure of a leaf look like? What might the neural network in our brain be like and how do cells communicate with each other? \nModern scientific visualizations provide an insight into how biochemical processes take place in our bodies\, how they connect us with all other living things on Earth\, and what their cosmic origin is.  Embark on an extraordinary journey into our “inner universe”. \nFor ages 13 and up! \n  \n\n  \nTickets for planetarium programs are $9 for Adults\, $8 for UMaine Students/Veterans/Senior Citizens\, and $7 for children under 12. Click here to view our calendar. \nTickets may be purchased online\, by phone at 207.581.1341\, or at our ticket box office prior to the show. \n

SUMMARY:Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
DESCRIPTION:Pink Floyd’s iconic album The Dark Side Of The Moon\, originally released in March 1973\, turned 50 in 2023\, and what more fitting a place to celebrate it and experience it than in a Planetarium\, through the music set to visuals? With the help of modern technology\, the idea of a show combining breath-taking views of the solar system and beyond\, played out to 42 minutes of The Dark Side Of The Moon in surround sound\, has been embraced by the band. NSC Creative have led the visual production efforts\, working closely with Pink Floyd’s long time creative collaborator Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis. \nEach song has a different theme; some futuristically looking forward and some a retro acknowledgment to Pink Floyd’s visual history\, all relating to a time and space experience\, embracing up to the minute technology that only a Planetarium can offer. A truly immersive and all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat that will transcend reality and take you way beyond the realms of 2D experience. \nTickets are $11 for general admission. \nMusic programs may contain explicit lyrics\, and are intended for adult audiences. All music programs may contain bright flashing lights and fast-moving images\, which have been known to trigger seizures with those with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised. \nTickets may be purchased online\, by phone at 207.581.1341\, or at our ticket box office prior to the show.

SUMMARY:The Met: Live in HD – Così fan tutte
DESCRIPTION:The Met: Live in HD season kicks off with Mozart’s satirical comedy of fickle young love\, one of the composer’s most sublime creations. Phelim McDermott’s “colorful\, inventive” (The New York Times) staging\, inspired by Coney Island in the 1950s\, sets the uproarious story at a boardwalk amusement park\, where the two pairs of lovers at the heart of the tale find themselves on one emotional—and literal—thrill ride after another. Soprano Federica Lombardi and mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey sing Fiordiligi and Dorabella\, opposite tenor Duke Kim and baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Ferrando and Guglielmo. Bass-baritone Gerald Finley reprises his portrayal of the cynical Don Alfonso\, with soprano Ana María Martínez as the witty maid Despina. \nAdult $28 | Senior $23 | Student $13 | All fees included

SUMMARY:Grant Writing Essentials
DESCRIPTION:You have a lot on your plate. Between annual appeals\, communications\, virtual event planning and fundraising\, you’re overwhelmed. And now you’ve been tasked with writing a grant and you don’t know where to start. Our online grant writing program can help! \nThis interactive online professional development program will teach you the basics of seeing a grant through a full cycle—from inception to completion. You’ll learn how to get your organization ready to apply for grants\, where to find funders and funding opportunities\, how to write the components of a grant and how to submit a successful application that has all the information funders want to see. \nUsing case studies\, this program will focus on real-world grant applications. Comprehensive checklists and worksheets will guide you through every step of planning\, researching\, applying to and managing a grant—without missing a thing! You’ll also develop language specific to your organization that answers common grant questions. \nThe only thing you won’t learn in this program is how to celebrate securing a grant proposal. We figure you’ve got that one covered. 🙂 \nVisit our website for more information:\nhttps://dll.umaine.edu/grant-writing/
