{"id":7150,"date":"2015-08-19T08:14:33","date_gmt":"2015-08-19T08:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/business\/?p=7150"},"modified":"2015-08-19T12:54:29","modified_gmt":"2015-08-19T12:54:29","slug":"myrden-co-authors-article-in-journal-of-knowledge-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/business\/blog\/2015\/08\/19\/myrden-co-authors-article-in-journal-of-knowledge-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Myrden co-authors article in Journal of Knowledge Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cUnderstanding Disengagement from Knowledge Sharing: Engagement Theory versus Adaptive Cost Theory,\u201d an article co-authored by MBS Assistant Professor of Marketing Susan Myrden, has been accepted for publication in the <em>Journal <\/em><em>of Knowledge Management<\/em> later this year.\u00a0 Myrden wrote the article with professors Tim Jones and Dianne Ford, both from Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John\u2019s, Newfoundland, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The study, which is based on knowledge workers (engineers, architects, doctors, scientists, accountants, lawyers and academics) uses competing hypotheses (a spillover hypothesis<br \/>\nbased on Engagement Theory and a provisioning hypothesis based on Adaptive Cost Theory) to help explain why employees become disengaged from sharing knowledge at work.<br \/>\n\u201cThis paper contains highly relevant and insightful information concerning knowledge sharing in organizations,\u201d said Myrden. \u201cOne of the most interesting results for researchers as<br \/>\nwell as practitioners is that (lack of ) health and well-being is the most important antecedent for disengaging from knowledge sharing.
