New and Next at MBSUndergraduate School of Business

Analytics Integration

Critical thinking and problem solving are essential for today’s business school graduates, and at the heart of those skills is a mastery of data analytics.

As part of its continuous improvement, MBS is incorporating analytics technology across its entire curriculum. Students will gain hands-on experience with programs that industry professionals use to organize, manage, and communicate data, like SQL, R, and Tableau. Look for these and other technologies in your upcoming coursework, and prepare for a successful future.

Business Trip Abroad: UK

Explore the international business environment across the pond. Led by MBS faculty Dr. Jason Harkins and Dr. Susan Myrden, this international’s business trip will explore the political economic relationships that coexist between the United Kingdom and the United States.

For more information on participating in this for-credit international experience, visit the Undergraduate Programs Office, Room 213 in DP Corbett Business Building, or email them at

Corporate Classroom

Combine the on-location, real-world experience of an internship with the instruction of classroom learning, and you’ve got MBS’s new Corporate Classroom program.

Piloting Summer 2019 at Hannaford, this five-week immersive learning experience will educate students on all aspects of retailing – product development, merchandising, operations, CRM, pricing, and more! And with coursework taking place on-location at Hannaford’s headquarters in Scarborough, Maine, students will benefit from projects and insights from some of the retailer’s leading team members.

An AACSB-accredited business degree from MBS sets our graduates apart. Certifications in some of today’s most widely-used programs will take them to the next level.

For years, our Gerard S. Cassidy Capital Trading Lab has been certifying students on Bloomberg terminals and preparing them for real-world financial trading. Soon MBS students will have the opportunity to earn certifications in SAP, Quickbooks, the Microsoft Office suite of products, R marketing platform, and Adobe. And beginning in Fall 2019, Maine Business School will become the first and only Certaport Certification Center in the state of Maine.

Thriving Under 30

In Spring 2019, MBS held its inaugural speaker series event, Thriving Under Thirty. This day-long program brought to campus the entrepreneurs and CEOs of three booming Maine business: Bissell Brothers Brewing, Bixby & Co. chocolates, and Mainely Burgers eatery – and they’re all under 30!

The young business leaders met with students over coffee and lunch, spoke in various classes, and gave TED Talk-style presentations in the Donald P Corbett Business Building. Students learned about the businesses’ successes, challenges, and inspirations, and were able to ask questions on topics ranging from marketing and logistics to brand extension and logo creation.
