Business Minors

Minors provide an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their degree. UMaine students majoring outside of Maine Business School can choose one of four business minors within MBS.

To declare a business minor, visit the Undergraduate Programs Office in Room 213, Donald P. Corbett Business Building.


Accounting

Complete eight (8) courses (24 credit hours):

  • Principles of Financial Accounting (BUA 201)
  • Principles of Managerial Accounting (BUA 202)
  • Intermediate Accounting I (BUA 301)
  • Intermediate Accounting II (BUA 302)
  • Cost Accounting (BUA 305)
  • Auditing (BUA 310)
  • Federal Taxation of Individuals (BUA 312)
  • Accounting Elective

To become a certified public accountant in the state of Maine, 24 credit hours of accounting and 150 total credit hours of higher education are required. Interested students may consider applying to the Graduate School of Business MaineMBA in Accounting program to complete the additional credit hour requirements.

Business Administration

The business administration minor prepares a student for a leadership position within their career. This minor enhances a breadth of business skills and complements all other majors of study.

A marketing minor may be declared, at the earliest, in the second semester of a student’s enrollment. All BUA classes must be taken for a grade (no pass/fail permitted). Must earn a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in the required BUA/ECO courses. Must earn a minimum of a C- in BUA 270, with only one opportunity to repeat a class.
