In this webinar, Haley provides a video demonstrating DIY adapted materials and learning tools. Individuals with Autism can benefit varying sensory input and physical access accommodations. This 15-minute video demonstrates how everyday materials can be implemented to create opportunities for independence at home in various ways.

Some highlights include:

  • Adapted memory game with child’s communication symbols, or new vocabulary
  • Creating a visual schedule with materials around the house
  • Adding interactive and tangible motivators to literacy materials
  • Adding interactive and tangible motivators to math-related materials

Speaker Bio

Haley Usilton is a first-year graduate student pursuing a Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Maine. Haley began her career at the University of Maine as an undergraduate majoring in CSD and minoring in Neuroscience, French, and Disability Studies. Haley has worked in the UMaine campus Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Lab for three years. As a graduate assistant, Haley works on a variety of projects to better support AAC use and understanding in both the clinical and research environment.
