In education most practices are not easily determined to be evidence-based or not evidence-based. Practices and strategies are evaluated along a continuum, from those supported by experimental research to those that are untested and without a theoretical foundation.
This training will prepare participants to identify and assess evidence-based strategies for improving academic, behavioral, and social outcomes for students with autism. In addition, resources and training modules will be explored to provide timely access to training and information to school teams to address the often very individualized needs of students.
This training would be incomplete without considerations for how to implement “What Works” so that students benefit. Key strategies for training and coaching staff will be outlined and practiced.
Contact hours are awarded upon completion of the workshop. CEUs (.6) are available with a $20 processing fee.
Speaker bio: Courtney Angelosante is a behavior analyst with experience teaching in general education and special education. Her teaching, service, and research centers around supporting students with behavioral challenges in the least restrictive environment through the implementation of evidence-based practices and interventions. Pivotal to this work, is the emphasis on supporting teachers and teams to build systems to ensure fidelity, evaluation, and sustainability.
