Hilary London, Provant Health Coach, is on the UMaine campus and ready for your appointments. Hilary can help you manage your health and wellness. As your health coach she will encourage you to share what lifestyle changes would would like to make in the following areas:

  • understanding RiseUP
  • weight management
  • stress and anxiety management
  • understanding biometrics
  • nutrition
  • tobacco cessation.

When: Hilary is at UMaine every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and every other Thursday.

Where: Safety & Environmental Management (SEM) in York Village, Building #7 and Cutler Health Center. SEM is off Square Road from Grove Street Extension.

Train for and Run the Healthy High Race in April

Healthy High AnnouncementGet those spring-craving feet ready for the annual UMaine Student Wellness Resource Center’s Healthy High 5K or 10K race on April 13 at 4:20 p.m. Though sponsored by the Student Wellness Resource Center, the general public is welcome to participate. Entry fee is $5 for students, $15 for staff and public. All proceeds from the race benefit the Black Bear Exchange food pantry and Thrift Store on campus. There is also a free 1 mile Fun Walk.

If you hesitate to sign up for the Healthy High 5K or 10K race, you’ve got time to train with a Campus Recreation sponsored training program called Couch to 5K.

  • Healthy High Couch to 5K: Do you want to run your first 5K or improve your time from last year? Let us help you achieve your goals for UMaine’s Healthy High 5k! You will meet every Monday with a trainer who will lead you in a run outside or indoors (weather permitting). An easy to follow week-by-week training schedule will be provided. Each week you will also receive a hand out on a specific topic such as hydration or stretching.Meets Mondays Feb 24- Apr 7 (no session Mar 3 or Mar 10 due to Spring Break)
    Race Day: 4:20 p.m. on Apr 13, 2014
    Member & Non-Member: $27

Employee Express Fitness

Squeeze a workout into your workday? Campus Recreation’s Employee Express Fitness program is designed to do just that.

  • Employee Express Fitness: Campus Recreation and HealthyU come together again to offer UMaine Employee Express Fitness!  There’s no longer any excuse not to fit in those recommended 30 minutes of exercise.  A personal trainer will lead the class in an energy-boosting workout designed to increase muscle strength, muscle endurance, cardio endurance, and aid in weight loss in a non-intimidating atmosphere. You will move through our circuit stations, working each major muscle group. Set your day up for success by coming to the 7:00 a.m. class, or come in at 11:15 a.m. for a pre-afternoon pick-me-up!  Great for any fitness level; especially those interested in learning how to use the equipment so they can return with confidence to use machines on their own.Meets: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:00- 7:30 a.m. OR 11:15- 11:45 a.m.
    Spring Session: Jan 22 – Feb 28
    Members: FREE! Non-Members: $15
