Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

It’s important that employees and managers stay informed about the current status of H1N1 flu (at times referred to as swine flu). Here are some tips for employees and managers regarding the current flu situation.

What all employees can do to be helpful:

  • Wash hands frequently – especially after you cough or sneeze; use soap and water when available or an alcohol based hand cleanser.
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash immediately.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth – germ spread that way.
  • Avoid using other employees’ phones, desks, work equipment etc. if possible.
  • If you are sick or have flu symptoms, stay home from work, limit contact with others and, if necessary, contact your healthcare provider. Follow the regular departmental process for notifying your supervisor.
