The future of this project has many paths it may take. The first will be a more detailed look at Pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) and Single-Stream(also single-sort, no-sort, Zero-Sort®) programs. Beyond that the total economic cost to towns and the state as a whole from failure to divert various types of materials found in the waste stream will be forthcoming.
Beyond that there is a desire to use other state’s studies to interpolate Maine’s Commercial waste generated based on population density of various economic centers of the state.
