Welcome to the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Water Quality! We provide information on protecting Maine’s water resources. We work with agricultural producers,   lake groups, municipal officials, educators, private well owners, anyone who is interested in Maine’s water.  We are here to help you enjoy clean, safe water.

For most of our agriculture and water quality information, please visit our University of Maine Cooperative Extension Agriculture and Water Quality pages!

Our lake water education program, the Watershed Stewards Program, has trained over 400 Maine residents to spot pollutions sources.  These “Stewards”, in grants and local match, have stimulated over a million dollars in funds to directly protect their lakes!Ice Out on Branch Pond
