UMaine Extension Offering a 4-H Super Sitter Course

Machias, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H is offering a Super Sitter Babysitting course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at University of Maine Cooperative Extension, 28 Center St., Machias.

The course, open to boys and girls age 12 and older, focuses on the physical safety and security of children and addresses children’s social needs, including friendship, companionship, understanding and patience. Participants receive training in basic first aid and how to respond in emergency situations. They also learn about children of different ages, including how to relate to them and how to avoid pitfalls that can accompany childcare. Participants receive a certificate upon successful completion of the class.
