Have you ever wanted to learn more about that delicious salmon on your plate or those pens floating in local seas? All are invited to hear four experts discuss the economic, environmental and other impacts of salmon farming in Washington County. The free event will be held on Wednesday, October 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at University of Maine, Machias, Kimball Hall, Portside Room. Speakers will include Chris Bartlett, Marine Extension Associate, Maine Sea Grant & UMaine Extension; Sebastian Belle, Executive Director, Maine Aquaculture Association; Dwayne Shaw, Executive Director, Downeast Salmon Federation; and Paul Molyneaux, author of Swimming in Circles: Aquaculture and the End of Wild Oceans. After each panelist gives a brief presentation, audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions. The event is the first in a series about the food we eat and is sponsored by University of Maine, Machias; University of Maine Cooperative Extension; and the Libra Foundation.
