4-H Super Sitter Course Held in Machias

On July 22, 2013, 4-H volunteer Kathy Stanwood led nine youth through the 4-H Super Sitter program sponsored by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Participants reported learning first aid, diaper changing, and how to feed a baby.  They even learned what not to do when babysitting, like advertising with public flyers or giving small children toys that could fit into an empty toilet paper tube because the toy could become a choking hazard.  Down East Ambulance staff, Isaac Stephenson and Benjamin Verburgt, taught basic first aid, when and how to call 911, and gave a tour of the ambulance.

Please contact the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, if you are interested in future 4-H Super Sitter Courses by calling Nicole Willey at 207-255-3345 or by emailing nicole.h.willey@maine.edu.
