Events and Workshops - Got Hayfields? – Hayfield and Pasture Management workshops

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension held a series of workshops around the state focused on hayfield and pasture management.

 

The “Got Hayfields” workshops focused how to best manage hayfields and pastures for producing high quality feed for livestock.  Topics included weed control, managing soil fertility, hay and pasture renovation techniques, grazing management and the basics of forage quality.

 

Rick Kersbergen, Extension Educator from Waldo County led this series. Workshops were held throughout the state at the following locations and times.

 

  • Waldo County
    March 25 from 6:30-8:30pm at the UMaine Extension, 992 Waterville Rd (Rt 137), Waldo

 

  • Franklin County
    April 3 from 6 – 8pm at the Farmington Grange, 124 Bridge St, West Farmington

 

  • Penobscot County
    April 10 from 7 – 9pm at UMaine Extension, 307 Maine Ave, Bangor (across from National Guard near the airport)

 

  • Kennebec County
    April 24 from 6:30-8:30pm at Vassalboro Grange  (Route 32, downtown East Vassalboro, 353 Main St.)

 

  • Aroostook County
    April 30 from 2 – 4pm, UMaine Extension, 57 Houlton Rd, Presque Isle

 

  • Androscoggin & Sagadahoc Counties
    May 14 from 5:30 – 7:30pm, UMaine Extension, 24 Main St, Lisbon Falls

 

  • York County
    June 3 from 5:30 – 7:30pm, Noon Family Sheep Farm, 78 Sunset Rd,  Springvale
