Conversation Partner Training for Volunteers
Travel the World Locally through Cultural Exchanges
Adults from around the world want to improve their conversational English. A new English Conversation Program coordinates pairings between local English language learners and volunteer partners to improve conversational English and encourage cultural exchanges.
This training is ideal for those interested in different cultures. A weekly commitment (1-2 hours) with a conversation partner starts post training.
Topics during the 3-hour training: cross-cultural communication, tips for facilitating conversation with new English speakers, and conversation topics and activities. Prior teaching experience, foreign language skills, and/or a degree in education are not required.
Training is offered:
- Monday, February 6 from 6 – 9 p.m. at United Technologies Center in Bangor.
- Tuesday, February 21 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Orono Public Library.
