This award recognizes a graduating student who is a veteran who has been committed to his/her education and made contributions to the University of Maine community. This award recognizes veterans’ unique pathways to a higher education degree and the multiple life roles that a veteran-student often assumes while pursuing his/her education. The recognized student is an undergraduate who is expected to graduate during this year and has shown a passion for learning, a commitment for his/her academic programs and has contributed significantly to the university campus community. Students, faculty, and staff may nominate any graduating student veteran for this award.
This award recognizes UMaine faculty and staff members who have offered guidance, support and resources to student-veterans as they transition from the military to higher education. These faculty and staff have shown sensitivity to the diverse experiences and backgrounds of student-veterans and have taught in ways that reach many learning styles. Through their student interactions, teaching, and program design, these faculty and staff recognize the rich contributions that student-veterans make to the University of Maine. These UMaine faculty/staff have provided the support and guidance that assisted these veterans toward success as students. Students, faculty, and staff may nominate any current faculty or staff member for this award.
