Other Resources - Legal Services

The University of Maine Student Government offers free legal aid to any undergraduate taking more than 6 credit hours who has paid the student activity fee. If a student needs legal assistance, Attorney O’Mara can provide advice, information, a referral to services, or some simple legal forms. Court representation is not included for free, but can be provided at a reduced rate in certain cases. The following are some common areas of inquiry:

Attorney Sean O’Mara graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Psychology, and then the Maine School of Law in Portland. While at Maine Law, he interned with the District Courts in York County, and with the Office of the Maine Attorney General dealing with Freedom of Access laws.  He is originally from Aroostook County in Northern Maine, and currently lives on French Island in Old Town. He enjoys grilling, brewing beer and wine, and discussing politics and philosophy.

Contact Sean O’Mara on FirstClass for any questions, or to set up an appointment, or call 581-1789.

Office Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9 – 4:30

Directions to the office: Go to the basement of the Union, take a right in front of the Wade Center, and then go down the hallway to your left. It is room 157.

Legal Services Liaison: Devin Greenlaw, Senator
