September

  • School visits resume after the summer program.
  • Seniors should be signing up for a Fall SAT or ACT. See UB counselors for fee waivers, or look on NACAC website.
  • Seniors: Start asking for recommendation letters.

October

  • Seniors: College application process begins.
  • SAT or ACT test dates for seniors.
  • UBMS Reunion/STEM Adventure!

November

  • School Visits
  • Maine UB Rally: UB programs from throughout the state of Maine attend an overnight event, which includes workshops and community building. The Maine UB Rally offers a chance for UB students and staff to come together in one spot to celebrate and advocate for TRIO Programs.
  • SAT or ACT test dates for seniors.

December

  • School Visits
  • Seniors: Application confirmations from at least three colleges/universities due to UBMS counselor by December 31st. For more info check out Senior Expectations and Bridge Requirements.
  • UBMS Holiday Reunion/STEM Adventure!

January

  • School Visits
  • Seniors: FAFSA opens January 1st.
  • Does your school require the PROFILE as well?

February

  • School Visits
  • TRiO Days: A national event that gathers students and staff from TRiO programs for a two days of fun, education and community building. The New England regional TRiO Days event rotates to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island each year. For students, it’s a chance to connect with friends from UMaine UB, tour out of state colleges, and meet TRiO students from other states.
  • UBMS Winter Reunion/STEM Adventure: Typically the last weekend of February vacation, the reunion gathers UMaine UB friends and family at a local bowling center.
  • Seniors: Copy of FAFSA due on February 14th.

March

  • School Visits
  • The Council for Opportunity in Education’s (COE) Policy Seminar: Staff and TRIO Alumni gather in Washington, D.C. to advocate for TRIO programs. Each group visits their senators and congresspeople to tell the story of TRIO success.
  • Maine Hall of Flags: The state of Maine has it’s own version of Policy Seminar as Maine TRIO students and professionals gather in Augusta for the Maine Hall of Flags day. On this day, TRIO visit with lawmakers in the Hall of Flags and sit in on legislative and committee sessions.
  • SAT dates for Maine Juniors.
  • Seniors: At least 3 scholarships completed, and confirmation to UBMS by March 17th.
  • All Students – talk to your UBMS Counselor about your Individual Research Project interests for the summer!

April

  • School Visits
  • Seniors: Bridge applications to UBMS office by April 1st.
  • Seniors: Check frequently (online and snail mail) for financial aid award packages.
  • All Students – talk to your UBMS Counselor about your Individual Research Project interests for the summer!

May

  • School Visits
  • Spring Reunion, New Student Orientation & STEM Adventure: Held prior to the summer program, students from prior summers get a chance to reconnect, and new students and families learn more about the summer program.
  • Seniors: Give colleges final decisions by May 1st.

End of June – Beginning of August

  • Summer program!
