Adventure Trips - Penobscot River Canoe Adventure: intermediate level, ages 13-15

Join Tanglewood on this NEW! senic adventure though the northern Maine woods via the West Branch of the Penobscot River. Considered to be premier fly fishing waters, the West Branch boasts wide glassy waters with an abundance of moose and bald eagles. This 6-day trip is an amazing opportunity for youth to hone their canoe skills, low-impact camping, ecology and to experience the rich history of Maine.

The trip puts in just down river of Old Roll Dam and continues down into Lobster Lake, one of the most pristine lakes in Maine. After a night on Lobster Lake, the group will canoe back to the West Branch past Throeau’s Island and eventually onto historic Chesuncook Village to experience the Maine of years gone by. With a quick jaunt out to Gero Island, the group prepares to tackle the  challenging but intensely rewarding Chesuncook Lake. Heading down to the south end of the lake to Forestry Point and the impressive Rippogenus Gorge, the group will observe some of the most unique geological features of Maine before pulling out and heading home. This trip is sure to inspire a lifetime of outdoor adventures!
