Overnight Camp Focus Groups

Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to Noon, finds campers at Blueberry Cove busy rigging boats, identifying collected sea life under a microscope, making pottery on an old kick wheel, and learning how to build a leave no trace campfire. By choosing a focus for the entire week, campers learn about a topic in depth! Anyone who says learning isn’t fun has never been to Blueberry Cove!

Marine Discovery — Campers will collect and study sea creatures, examine the contents of lobster traps, learn about inter-tidal zones, visit some of the most amazing tidal pools in Maine and make seaweed pudding!  Yummy! High-powered microscopes and a marine fish tank, allow for examining microscopic sea critters.  The two leaders of this focus are both have bachelor’s degrees in Marine Science AND they know how to have fun with campers!

Creative Arts — Harvest seeds from the flower garden and make greeting cards that can be planted, give our pottery wheel a spin, take a trip to the swap shop for material for recycled art, try your hand a watercolor painting at the seaside … with the sights, sounds and scents of the sea as an inspiration, the possibilities are endless!

Outdoor Living Skills — Campers explore leave no trace ethics and skills, campfire building, learn about local edibles, canoe to coastal islands, fish in the harbor and more.  The week culminates with an overnight adventure designed, planned and executed by the campers.

Sailing Instruction — Sailing is offered as a focus for Captain’s Quest and the 2-week overnight session; sailing is not offered as part of 1-week sessions.
