UMaine Summer Youth Programs
Innovation Adventure Day Camp
Whether you’re creative and love coming up with new ideas or adventurous and want to canoe the Stillwater River, this camp will have something for everyone! During this week long camp you’ll spend half of each day inventing new products, solving cool problems and learning how to create ideas and inventions and the other half on a challenge course, canoeing the Stillwater River and climbing a rock wall. UMMA Art Camp for Kids
Summer 2012 marks the 12th Annual Summer Art Camp to be held at the University of Maine Museum of Art! This year the museum offers 6 weekly sessions of art and fun for students from Grades 1 through 8.

4-H Camp & Learning Center at Bryant Pont
Summer camp at Bryant Pond is a unique blend of traditional camp activities, with fun and challenging outdoor and conservation.

CAD Camp
Come learn, play, have fun, and engage in Creative Design at CAD Camp! Try new challenges at your own pace! Learn about computer-aided design (CAD) by designing something uniquely “you!” CAD Camp lets you mix your interest in design and computers with the fun of making new friends.
Campers arrive Sunday afternoon, and are met by faculty and MaineBound staff members to settle in. Friendly and fun MaineBound staff members live with the campers. Girls and guys are housed in separate wings of the dormitory. Campers choose their meals from the variety offered at The MarketPlace in the Memorial Union. Maine Summer Transportation Institute
Maine Summer Transportation Institute which will run this year from July 9-20, 2012 (This is contingent upon receiving the grant).
The institute will run each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the two weeks and is free. As participants in the annual transportation institute, up to 20 students from the greater Bangor area will get a close look at careers in engineering and transportation. The event is cosponsored by the Maine Department of Transportation, the UMaine College of Engineering, and the Federal Highway Administration. It is designed to introduce students at an early age to jobs and careers available in Maine’s transportation industry.
Accepted students will participate in field trips, leadership and team-building activities, and a series of age-appropriate workshops, with hands-on laboratory experiences all related to transportation mode, safety and products, alternative fuels, construction materials, and computer-aided design. Students also will participate in recreational activities at the Student Recreation and Fitness Center. The majority of the daylong activities will take place at the Bion and Dorain Foster Student Innovation Center, at different engineering labs and at various off-campus locations.
