Archaeological Field School
Each year, UMaine students participate in an archaeological field school, held at several shell midden sites associated with prehistoric petroglyphs in Machias Bay. The field school is conducted in cooperation with the Passamaquoddy Petroglyph Project, which contributes an understanding of occupation sites associated with some of the most significant concentrations of petroglyphs in the Northeast and Atlantic Canada.

Schoodic Orientation
At the beginning of the fall semester, first-year students in UMaine's School of Biology take a trip to the Schoodic Peninsula, where their orientation course immerses them in nature's classroom. Biology student Brent Stoliker was there.
