Trainings - Information Security Awareness Training

The UMS Office of Information Security has developed an online training module to raise employee awareness about information security threats, regulatory requirements, and good information security practices. All student employees, are now required to complete this training annually and pass the exit quiz with a score of 70% or better.

As we receive authorization forms and process them we are adding your student(s) to Blackboard.   These instructions below will be included in the email we are sending to both you, the payroll processor and the student once the authorization has been approved and sent to payroll.

To complete the required training, please visit www.courses.maine.edu to log in to Blackboard using your UMS ID and password (the same ID and password that you use for MaineStreet access).  Once you are logged in:

  • Click on “My Courses” on the right hand side of the screen
  • Click on “Information Security Awareness UMaine”
  • Click on “Take the Course”
  • Complete the course, including the required quiz

If you have difficulty accessing the training, please contact our office at 581-1349. If you have questions about your MaineStreet login or about using Blackboard, please contact the IT Help Desk
at 581-1506.

If you hire a student employee who is NOT a UMaine Student they are required to complete the training in a paper format.  Only those students who are not UMaine student will be allowed to complete the training by paper.  UMaine students MUST complete the training on Blackboard.
