Annual Student Employment Recognition Week
In October 1989, the National Association of Student Employment Administrators set aside the second full week in April to celebrate and recognize the value of student employment. Colleges and Universities across the country recognize the importance of the student work experience. The University of Maine takes part in this celebration every year. We ask that departments across campus nominate a student for Student Employee of the Year and that students nominate a supervisor for Supervisor of the Year. This nomination and selection process takes place in February of each year. Through a reader-ranking process, one undergraduate student, one graduate student and one supervisor winner are chosen and announced at a reception on the Monday of Student Employment Recognition Week. The winners’ nominations are then submitted to the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators for a state, regional and national competition.
