You may start to file your 2014-2015 FAFSA starting January 1, 2014. University of Maine’s priority filing deadline is March 1, 2014. File a FAFSA by going to the FAFSA website. University of Maine’s school code for the FAFSA is 002053. Students and parents should never pay to file a FAFSA, as it can be done for free on the FAFSA website. All filers will need a PIN from the Department of Education in order to electronically sign their FAFSA. To obtain a PIN, click here.

Before you begin, gather the documents you will need to apply.

Starting February 2, 2014 the IRS DATA RETRIEVAL TOOL will be available for student applicants and parents who have filed their 2013 taxes.  This tool allows you and/or your parents to obtain income information directly from the IRS and transfer it into your FAFSA. Click here to find out more information about the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.

If you initially filed your FAFSA using estimates, and have now filed your 2013 Federal taxes, you should update your FAFSA information using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.

You and/or your parents may be required to provide our office with additional documentation that verifies the data you provided on your FAFSA.  Specific verification requests and instructions will be available to students on their MaineStreet To-Do list, found on the Student Center. Click here for more information on the additional documents you may need to submit.

Confirm we have received your FAFSA by accessing your MaineStreet Student Center and clicking on the “FAFSA Status” link after February 1st.
