Sandra Hardy obtained her Ph.D from New York University and currently serves as an Associate Professor at The University of Maine. Dr. Hardy teaches acting and literature of the theatre as well as Drama in Education. She is a published scholar of Henrik Ibsen, the great Norwegian playwright who reminds her of her own heritage.
Dr. Hardy has directed over eighteen mainstage productions at UMaine. She has taken three shows to the regional finals of the American College Theatre Festival and many of her students have gone on to work in professional theatre. Her most recent productions include Cabaret, Noises Off, The Rocky Horror Show, Bent, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Hedda Gabler.
Dr. Hardy conducts workshops in acting and the teaching of acting throughout the state and her comedy workshops are in great demand. She is also an education specialist and loves touring the public schools of Maine. She has directed children dramas, puppet shows and outreach projects and toured area middle schools with You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Broadway Nights.
