Jennifer Goldenberg has a clinical practice in Bangor, specializing in adult survivors of complex developmental trauma. She is Senior Researcher for the Transcending Trauma Project, a qualitative study of Holocaust survivors and the inter-generational transmission of both trauma and resilience in survivor families, with which she has been involved since 1993. She has published her research on coping strategies of adolescent survivors, the role of faith and ritual practice in survivor families, and causal attributions and the search for meaning after trauma, among other topics. Her current research focuses on the long-term developmental impacts of genocide and ethnic conflicts on adolescent survivors, and on the impact of the Holocaust — particularly survival narratives — on the third generation. She is completing a book on resilience in survivors of genocide. She has taught graduate-level courses in human behavior, research, and ethics at the University of Maine as well as human behavior courses at Bryn Mawr College. She currently teaches a graduate course on trauma theory and treatment.
