Becoming a Rising Tide Advocate

Rising Tide Advocates are male faculty leaders who:

  • are interested in learning about issues of discrimination and privilege in the workplace;
  •  will support gender diversity and equity through committee work, teaching, research, or informal actions within the department, college, or the university as a whole;
  • have attended an Advocates and Allies workshop, or who have a working knowledge of the dynamics of institutional and structural bias and privilege;
  • represent all colleges.

  • Express your interest by submitting the on-line form below;
  • Complete readings relevant to campus climate, equity, and bias;
  • Participate in regular meetings/reading group sessions per semester;
  • Participate at key Rising Tide Center events;
  • Encourage informal institutional research on gender dynamics within your college;
  • Advocate for gender equity in all institutional processes;
  • Facilitate short workshops for current and future Rising Tide Advocates and Allies.
