Residence Hall Descriptions - Upper Class Residence Halls
The University of Maine offers six traditional style upper-class residence halls. These halls house a mix of second-year through senior students, including transfer, non-traditional, and international students. There are also three residence halls where eligible upper-class Honors students may live. Please see “Honors Housing Residence Halls” for more information.
Introducing our “Premium Single” rooms! These single rooms are 30% larger than a traditional single room, and will only cost an additional $229 per semester as compared to a regular single room. These premium singles will also include the following additional amenities at no additional cost:
- A double bed
- A microfridge
- A comfortable lounge chair
- Two closets
- Two dressers
Premium single rooms can be found in Aroostook and Kennebec Halls.

- 257 resident occupancy
- Upper-class student housing
- Co-ed wings of approximately 25-30 residents
- Double occupancy rooms only
- Typical double room measures 12’6″ x 16’8′ with 10’7′ x 4’7″ window
- Open during October and Thanksgiving breaks
- Closed during winter and spring breaks
- 230 resident occupancy
- Three floors of upper-class student housing, one floor of first-year student housing
- Co-ed wings of approximately 20-30 residents
- Double, premium single and single rooms available
- Typical double room or premium single room measures 16’9″ x 11’8″ with 6′ x 4’3″ window
- York Commons is located underneath of the building (must exit the hall to enter the commons)

- Upper-class student housing
- First floor offers male-only and female-only wings
- Co-ed wings of 15-48 residents
- Fourth floor is CHOICE Housing for a chem-free lifestyle
- Double, premium single and single rooms available
- Typical double room or premium single room measures 17’8″ x 10’8″ with 8’4″ x 3’11″ window
- Open during October and Thanksgiving breaks
- Closed during winter and spring breaks
- 130 resident capacity
- Upper-class student housing
- Co-ed floors of approximately 48 residents
- First floor offers male-only and female-only wings
- Double, premium single and single rooms available

- Third and fourth floors will house the Transfer Student Community (Fall 2013)
