Welcome - The Staff
Director, Shelly Chasse-Johndro, holds a Master’s of Education from the University of Maine. She is a certified mathematics teacher and holds an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement. She has managed previous Title III Professional Development Programs, has taught several ESL courses, and has developed an extensive online curriculum.
Principal Investigator, Laura Lindenfeld, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Communication & Journalism and the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center. Much of her current research focuses on civic engagement of underrepresented minority populations in Maine.
Administrative Specialist, Jane Dare, works closely with the project Director, providing administrative and clerical support. Scheduling committee meetings, coordinates preparation’s for college-wide workshops and conferences, including equipment and technology needs, reservations and catering. She develops, publish and collects responses on workshop surveys, manages the project’s website and related contact information.
Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistant, Andrea Mercado, holds an M.Ed. in e-learning Technology and Design from Jones International University and a M.S. in Foreign Language Education with Specialization in TESOL from Florida International University. Her research experience includes analyzing student performance data, qualitative research on teacher training and technology and has studied cultural experience and behaviors in families of ESL students.
Outreach Coordinator, Marguerite MacDonald, holds a M.Ed. from the University of Southern Maine. She is a certified teacher and administrator with an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement. Margie has served as a Title VII Project Director, Outreach Coordinator under Title III, member of the Maine Refugee Advisory Council and is the Education Co-chair of the Governor’s newly appointed Multicultural Task Force.
