  • Government and Politics in Eurasia

James W. Warhola is Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Political Science Department at the University of Maine. His research interests generally focus on comparative politics (especially in Russia, Eurasia, and Africa), and political theory.  His most recent work, “Redux Russian Autocracy: Path Dependency and the Late Modern State”, was published in The Carl Beck Papers in Russian and East European Studies. He has also published work in The International Journal of Politics, Culture and Society; the Journal of Church and State; the American Journal of Political Science. He has published monographs including Politicized Ethnicity in the Russian Federation: Dilemmas of State Formation; as well as other publications in books and journals. Professor Warhola serves on the Editorial Council of the “Journal of Church and State”. He has served in the Faculty Senate of the University of Maine (1993-1996) and the Executive Council of that Senate (1995-1996). Professor Warhola was invited to speak as a Visiting Research Scholar at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in Spring of 2010. Recently, he was invited to speak at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy (Salve Regina University, Newport, RI).
