Extension Leadership Team Meeting Minutes
Thursday, May 29, 2014
Location: Augusta- 218 Richard Randall Center
9:00 – 3:30

Facilitator:  Lisa Phelps

Note taker:  Fran Sulinski

Diagnostic Lab Bond Preparation

The campaign will begin for the Diagnostic Lab bond. Extension will inform citizens that there will be a bond and what the bond will fund. We will have an aggressive educational effort. This is within the scope of what can be done and is not considered lobbying. A PSA is currently in process and shows how to safely remove a tick and where to send it.

4-H Foundation Annual Meeting

The recent 4-H Foundation annual meeting was extremely well executed and served to show the value and support for the 4-H program. Thanks to Susan Jennings for her leadership in organizing this event.

4-H STEM Strategic Plan

The ELT reviewed the 4-H STEM Strategic Plan that includes information about planned programs, staff resources and professional development initiatives as well as good connections to campus and our 4-H camps. The group is also researching possible donations and grants to support the work.  An executive summary will be posted on Plugged-in.

FY 2014 Annual Report of the Accomplishments and the FY 2014 Provost Report.

We often see some of the best impacts articulated as part of post tenure and promotion packets submitted by faculty. PA’s will encourage those who submitted post tenure and promotion packets in 2014 and those who will submit packets in 2015 to input these impacts in to the reporting system. In addition we, organizationally, need all programming staff to craft meaningful impact statements and submit them through the online reporting system. The stories should reflect our portfolio of programming including the food system, 4-H and other areas and include research, outreach and collaborative efforts that are funded with base and external support resulting in positive changes for the people we work with. The national 4-H common measures will also help us to compile and extract improved impact data for 4-H. We have seen improvements in this regard already.

Marketing Needs

Marketing is still an important part of our work despite our inability to fill a marketing position at this time. Staff will need to do their best to carry out this work with the support of campus marketing, our publications professional Tracey Ferwerda and within the guidelines in the marketing policy manual as well as campus policies.

Future Agenda Items:

First quarter of each year: Updates from Tanglewood/Blueberry Cove, and Bryant Pond Camps

Announcement Invitation:

The ELT invites you to submit items to be included in the minutes/announcements of the next regularly scheduled ELT meeting.  This is an opportunity to share with the ELT and the rest of the organization any of the following:
