Dover-Foxcroft, ME— Paul Saliwanchik with WABI TV will be coming to Piscataquis County on January 26th, 2011 from 7 pm to 8 pm at the Piscataquis County Extension Office in Dover-Foxcroft to talk about how farmers can utilize the local television stations to get information out on their farms or groups of farms as part of the Maine Highlands Farmers monthly meeting.
Many farmers market their products directly to consumers and as a group the Maine Highlands Farmers occasionally do joint marketing activities. Paul Saliwanchik will be discussing how farmers can get on television thorough ads Public Service Announcements and seasonal stories on the news. Last summer the Ohio Street Farmers Market in Bangor had a nice 15 second ad that was run on WABI. The Maine Highlands Farmers were very impressed with the amount of information that could be squeezed into 15 seconds.
This free meeting is sponsored by the Maine Highlands Farmers and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and is open to all interested people.
The Maine Highlands Farmers was established to help farmers work together to promote and market agricultural related products to consumers. Immediately following Paul Saliwanchik’s talk will be a regular meeting of the Maine Highlands Farmers where they will be discussing future educational program offerings. All are welcome to stay for this meeting.
