Dear Teaching Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that the University of Maine Department of Physics and Astronomy, together with the Maine Center for Research in STEM Education (RiSE Center) and the University of Maine College of Education and Human Development, will be hosting our Annual High School Physics and Physical Science Teachers Meeting on the UMaine campus in Orono on Friday, March 8, 2013.
All physics and physical science teachers in the state of Maine are invited to join us – as are math teachers and others interested in attending. Please join us!
Our goal is to bring together Maine physics and physical science teachers to discuss issues of teaching and learning, to share new demonstrations and teaching ideas, to showcase ways to get involved at the university, and to promote interactions between all involved parties. We will have presentations, workshops, and a demo gallery.
Bring your physics and physical science colleagues. We hope that high school and middle school teachers, physics and physical science teachers can attend!
We will be able to give 0.5 CEU (continuing education units) for participation in this meeting. If you wish to receive this 0.5 CEU you must: (a) attend the events of the meeting (of course!) and (b) pick up your certification at the end of the meeting. There is no advance paperwork on your part; however, there is a $10.00 fee to have the credits registered.
We look forward to seeing you on March 8. Please RSVP to Pat Byard in the department of physics: Patricia.Byard@umit.maine.edu or 581-1039. She will give you further information about parking, for example. If you have questions, please contact MacKenzie Stetzer or Jonathan Shemwell.
