Dave graduated in 1974 from Boston University, with a Bachelor’s degree in physics and chemistry. In 1979, he received a Master’s degree in physics at the University of Maine. He earned his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Maine in 1986.

Since 1990, David has been a lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He teaches the introductory sequence of Physics for Engineers and Physical Scientists (PHY 121/122) and the Physical Measurements Laboratory (PHY 229/230), as well as a Special Relativity Laboratory (PHY 224).
