Boardwalk Update – 25 September 2014
Boardwalk update:
Our silent auction/potluck is coming up on October 25th from 6-10pm at the Keith Anderson Community Center in Orono. If anyone has items to donate please contact Jim.Bird@umit.maine.edu
The next 48 sections are being manufactured by Great Northern Docks right now. We hope to receive them by the end of October, first part of November. We then hope (if the weather holds) to take out the 48 old sections and install the new ones. (We don’t have a date yet) We then will be ordering the next 48 sections for an April delivery and hope to take out the next 48 and install the new sections before opening in May. This is much work but I think we can do it. We are working on the funding for the next 48 sections which will get us to the half way point.
There will be a nature walk on October 4 starting at 9am at the cabin area. Ron Davis will be leading the walk – The Formation and Ecology of a Peat Bog. For those of you who haven’t been on a Ron Davis led walk you should really sign up for it. Very informative! Please just e-mail me (Jim.Bird@umit.maine.edu) if you’d like to attend.
