SCHOOL OF NURSING

TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION

The University of Maine School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, academic-year tenure track Assistant Professor in our undergraduate and graduate nursing programs beginning  September 1, 2013.

Responsibilities: Teach didactic and clinical courses in BSN and graduate programs, conduct research and participate in scholarly activities in field of expertise, advise students academically and serve on School and University committees.

Qualifications: An earned Doctorate in Nursing, or a Master’s in Nursing with a Doctorate in a related field and a valid Maine RN license are required by date of hire.   Applicants who will complete their doctorate by hire date will be considered. Previous successful teaching of adult health nursing courses preferred.  Applicants with teaching experience at the baccalaureate or higher degree level and a record of productivity in an identifiable area of research will be strongly considered.  Certification in nursing specialty is preferred.  Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work as part of a team are required.

The University of Maine is the flagship campus in the University of Maine System. The School of Nursing offers CCNE accredited BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN programs.  Acadia National Park and other recreational areas are within easy driving distance from campus.

TWO LECTURER POSITIONS

The University of Maine School of Nursing invites applications for two academic-year, non-tenure track Lecturer positions available September 1, 2013.

Responsibilities and Qualifications: The selected candidate in each position is required to teach undergraduate courses in didactic, clinical, and in the skills lab as well as advise students in the baccalaureate nursing program. A proven record of  clinical proficiency in medical surgical nursing is required for one position. The second position requires clinical proficiency in either the care of adults, children, older adults and/or primary care as a family nurse practitioner. Applicants with clinical proficiency in more than one clinical area are preferred.  Applicants for both positions should have teaching experience at the baccalaureate level. A Master’s or higher degree in nursing and valid State of Maine RN license are required by date of hire. Family Nurse Practitioner applicants must have a valid State of Maine APRN license by date of hire and maybe required to teach at the graduate level. Successful applicants must be committed  to teaching, professional development and service consistent with the mission of The University of Maine and the School of Nursing. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration skills are also required.
