From the President

Welcome to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) University of Maine Chapter!! As the current president of this organization I thank you for your interest in our expanding chapter here at the University. NSBE serves to assist students in their path towards a rewarding career. Through our many events, programs, and alumni networking NSBE remains dedicated to developing the students of today for their bright futureĀ tomorrow. Originally from Nigeria, I was born in New York and having lived across the United States with different cultures I was nervous about finally going to college in Maine. Meeting current NSBE members really gave me a chance to develop my professional network and put me on the right path for success. At NSBE I felt a connection to the members knowing we were chasing the same goal.
Our doors our open to you so feel free to stop by our meetings to know more about us. Looking forward to meeting you!
Yours Sincerely,
Ogechi Ogoke
NSBE President

Our Mission

The University of Maine Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers serves to positively support students in engineering and its related fields throughout their college experience. By working closely with students the University of Maine NSBE Chapter hopes to develop individuals who will excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

NSBE strives to increase the number of minority students studying engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as encourage members to seek advanced degrees in engineering or related fields and to obtain professional engineering occupations.

NSBE also serves to function as a representative body on issues and developments that affect the careers of minority Engineers.

We areĀ dedicated to assisting students from every background through their college career and beyond. Through many of our programs and various opportunities NSBE hopes to inspire the next generation of high achieving individuals.
