Meeting Minutes - February 14, 2008

10AM Bangor Room, Memorial Union

Kathleen O’Connell, President
Barbara Smith, Staff Advisor

1. Status of Club
Kat met with the Director of Campus Activities and Events who made common sense recommendations. She resubmitted the final approval form to the Vice President for Student Organization with an edit and with the association name as the “group” legally responsible for the club. Now we wait to see if they accept the form.
2. New Business
Barbara recommended we plan a social for nontraditional students, start planning the graduation breakfast, and find out about the silver cords or tassles for nontraditional students to wear with their cap and gown. Kat will look into this.
3. Family Room
We discussed the issue of a group of parents seeking a quiet family room where parents would be comfortable gathering and mothers would be comfortable nursing their babies or using a breast pump. There is a rocking chair in the third floor bathroom for this purpose. Conversations heard over several semesters indicate mothers do not feel a bathroom is a comfortable environment. This group has not yet requested assistance from our association.
4. Open House on Feb. 18
Kat reminded that she would be at the open house on Monday, Feb. 18. This will be held from 8-10AM at the Student Recreation & Fitness Center. She will pick up some materials from the commuter lounge to add to our table.

For discussion next week: FAQs, progress on silver cords, progress of club status, the open house results

Meeting adjourned at 10:45AM. Minutes submitted by Kat O’Connell
