The shooting deaths of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, a former University of Maine football player, and his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins in Kansas City, Mo., was widely reported nationally and internationally over the weekend. Authorities said Belcher, 25, killed his girlfriend and then himself.
