News Media Advance Maine Sea Grant Lobster Symposium

The Wall Street Journal, Portland Press Herald, Bangor Daily News and Maine Public Broadcasting Network were among the news organizations to publish information from an Associated Press report on the lobster conference, “The American Lobster in a Changing Ecosystem: A U.S.-Canada Science Symposium,” this week in Portland that’s being hosted by Maine Sea Grant at the University of Maine and co-chaired by University of Maine research associate professor Rick Wahle in the School of Marine Sciences. The conference, Nov. 27–30, will gather more than 100 people, including scientists, interested in protecting the lobster fishery, which is being challenged in southern New England by warming ocean temperatures, a changing food system, overfishing and seafood economics, according to the article.
